2009 Crew Chief of the Year

I grew up in Seattle with hydroplane racing as the only recognized major league sport. I’ve never ceased being passionate about boat racing. I couldn’t wait for Seafair to roll around and planned the summer by it.Being in the welding supply business I’ve always sold various items to a number of hydroplane teams throughout my career. It wasn’t until 2004 when a good friend was a crew chief for a team in the ULHRA that I began my total submersion into the sport. I told him he was living my childhood dream racing hydroplanes. He invited me to join the team he was on and I couldn’t resist. I’ve now mainly crewed for The “X-Man” on the UL-929 and have many wonderful experiences and a few bad ones too. One big observation I have is there ‘s little time for glory. There are countless hours thrashing in the shop getting ready for the next race. The biggest reward to myself has been the many friends I’ve made that will last forever. When I’m not racing I love to camp and go fishing. I’m constantly trying to cook the perfect meal on the BBQ grill. I take pleasure in watching and going to the Mariners games. I’m a huge believer in family and enjoy mine to the fullest. SEE YOU AT THE RACES! ! !
